Curriculum
Villa Maria Academy has a very strong and demanding academic program.
Religious truths and values are integrated
with every area of the curriculum and with the events of everyday living so that students come to know, act on and
witness to the Christian message as individuals and as a community.
Religious instruction is an integral part of our program;
and therefore, every student must attend religion classes and services.
Preparation for the Sacraments of Penance, Eucharist and Confirmation
is given to all students in their religion classes.
Since Villa Maria Academy is not a parish school, arrangements for immediate preparation and reception of these sacraments must be made in your respective parishes.
Our curriculum meets the standards of the New York State Education Department and the School Office of the Archdiocese of New York.
Each major subject area has been organized into learning levels
with appropriate content and skills.
Instruction is geared to meet individual learning needs
and achievement potentials.
Curriculum materials are selected to accommodate
varying learning styles.
Instruction is given weekly in Music, Art, Physical Education,
Library and Computer Skills.
Grades 3, 4 and 5 are receiving Italian instruction two times a week.
